After a relaxed breakfast in Valladolid, set off into the tropical landscape, passing fragrant forests

Your first destination is mysterious Ek Balam. The impressive main pyramid rises like a
stone finger towards the sky, and those who climb it are rewarded with sweeping views across
the lush green canopy of Yucatán. Intricately carved sculptures and an almost magical
silence make the ancient world feel remarkably close.
A short journey – by bicycle, on foot or by bicycle taxi – takes you to a sacred cenote,
where crystal-clear water and hanging roots create a peaceful place to cool off and connect with nature.
In the afternoon, reach the fishing village of RĂo Lagartos, nestled between lagoons
and mangroves. Here, board a boat and glide past vibrant flamingos, watchful

Today, your journey takes you into the heart of the ancient Maya world. Hidden amid
dense vegetation lies Cobá, once a thriving city with more than 55,000 inhabitants.

Then it’s time for a warm welcome into the home of a Maya family. In the shade of a

you reach the monumental Maya city of Calakmul – once the centre of the powerful

out across the seemingly endless jungle canopy. Hieroglyphs, carved stelae and
